Former Bellator middleweight champion, Alexander Shlemenko, doesn’t believe he will have the opportunity to prove himself under the banner of the world’s strongest league.
“There’s no point in fantasizing – it’s unlikely,” the Russian fighter said in an interview “Match TV”. “I realize and understand the strategy of the UFC. The UFC is already closed for me – they’re looking for young guys with no experience. I’m an experienced fighter with a lot of background. And on top of that, I’m not a whipping boy, I can win, it will dehumanize them at once. Who’s going to let me in there?”
At the same time, “Storm” believes that he will still bring fighters from his school into the octagon.
“We’ve got guys out there that are going to fight, we’re training. We have a whole cohort of youngsters that are performing very well. They’re maturing. We’ll be taping interviews about our guys fighting in the UFC soon.”
Alexander Shlemenko, 39, picked up two early victories last year, finishing Brazilian Alex Oliveira with a guillotine choke and a technical knockout of Serbian Aleksandar Ilic, and the RCC league is currently trying to arrange a rematch with Brazilian Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza.
