Former UFC flyweight title belt challenger Brandon Royval will replace the injured Amir Albazi in a fight against former division champion Brandon Moreno headlining UFC Fight Night 237 in Mexico City on Feb. 24.
The replacement was officially announced by the organization.
The bout of fighters will be a rematch – in November 2020 Moreno at the end of the first round finished by technical knockout Royval, who dislocated his shoulder and was unable to defend himself from his opponent’s punches.
Last July, Brandon Moreno lost his championship belt by a five-round split decision loss to Alexandre Pantoja, and in December, the Brazilian made the first defense of his title, defeating Brandon Royval by unanimous decision on judges’ scorecards.
Brandon Moreno and Brandon Royval are currently ranked No. 1 and No. 3 in the UFC’s lightweight division rankings, respectively.
