Arman Tsarukyan is officially selected for a challenger fight in the UFC

UFC No. 4 ranked lightweight Arman Tsarukyan will return to the octagon on April 13 at UFC 300 in Las Vegas, and the Russian’s opponent will be Brazilian Charles Oliveira, the division’s highest-ranked fighter.

The fight between the top lightweights will have challenger status, as officially announced by UFC CEO Dana White.

“Charles Oliveira will face Arman Tsarukyan in a challenger fight,” the head of the organization announced. “Oliveira was supposed to face the champion, Islam Makhachev, but Islam is still recovering from an injury. The winner will face Islam when he returns this summer.”

Arman Tsarukyan, 27, picked up his third consecutive win a month ago when he knocked out American Benil Dariush in the 64th second of the fight.

Charles Oliveira, 34, also defeated Dariush in his last fight, finishing the American by first-round TKO last June, and then the Brazilian withdrew from his title fight against Islam Makhachev after suffering a serious dissection two weeks before UFC 294.
