A week after Jamal Hill’s arrest, new details have emerged about his arrest, which was prompted by the former UFC bantamweight champion assaulting his older brother.
According to a police report that has reached the press, Jamal Hill arranged for his brother James and his wife to clean his house for $300. Hours after the couple got to work, an argument broke out between the brothers over the cleaning and “other family matters,” resulting in the former UFC champion “striking in a rash manner,” knocking his brother to the floor. He then pushed away his brother’s wife, who tried to intervene, and threw another punch, rendering James Hill unconscious.
Jamal reportedly punched James after he asked him why he wasn’t socializing with his daughter, who was at their home for Thanksgiving. James Hill also accused his younger brother of disrespecting women and abandoning his daughter.
After the incident, James Hill didn’t immediately call the police because he “didn’t want to ruin his brother’s fighting career.” However, after he sent Jamal several messages demanding an apology and an explanation for the incident, the UFC fighter did not respond and that’s when James Hill called the police.
The day before, Jamal Hill issued a statement announcing his innocence and promised to tell the whole truth about the incident in court.
The first court hearing in the case will take place in January next year.
