Petr Yan’s manager: “I know what happened in the fight with Dvalishvili”

The fight against Merab Dvalishvili, to whom Peter Yan lost all five rounds, is not an indicator that the Russian fighter is no longer able to show performances of the highest level, the manager of former UFC lightweight champion Sayat Abdrakhmanov is confident.

“I know specifically what happened. He made the decision to fight, and it turned out the way it did,” Abdrakhmanov said in an interview Sport24. “If someone evaluates his fighting skills only by this fight, you have to remember his other performances. Anyone who follows his career should realize that he was not one hundred percent. Unfortunately, you can’t fix what came before – Peter made the decision to fight, and this was the result. It doesn’t mean he’s gotten worse as a fighter.”

The manager also assessed the likelihood of his charge’s next fight on March 9 at UFC 299, headlined by a title fight between Sean O’Malley and Marlon Vera.

“The likelihood is high – April-March, those are the dates when Petr will be ready. It makes sense to fight in the same tournament with O’Malley. Basically, it makes sense for the UFC as well, so we’ll work on that. UFC 299 and UFC 300 are big tournaments and I would like to be at one of them”

We would like to remind you that Peter Yan is currently in the top five of the UFC’s lightweight division.
