Former UFC double champion, Conor McGregor, hosted a question and answer session on social media, including touching on the topic of principled rematches he would like to see.
In particular, the Irishman was asked if his plans include a fourth fight with Dustin Puryear, in confrontations with whom he suffered two recent defeats, including breaking his leg in the final match of the trilogy.
“Let’s be real – it has to be done. The issue is not closed,” McGregor stated.
Still, if given the choice, the former UFC champion in two weight classes would re-share the octagon with Khabib Nurmagomedov, to whom he lost by fourth-round submission five years ago.
“I would have picked Khabib. He is the biggest coward in the martial arts world,” the Irish fighter wrote.
McGregor also said he still expects to return to action at the UFC 300 anniversary event, which is tentatively scheduled for next April.
“Yeah, I’m in!” the former UFC champion informed. “I’m sure we’ll get a date. No one is holding anyone back. There’s a lot going on behind the scenes, but all parties involved are working hard to make it happen.”
Earlier, the head of the UFC, Dana White, announced that the long-awaited fight between Conor McGregor and Michael Chandler is likely to take place next summer.
