Francis Ngannou’s likely opponent and date of the fight have been named

Former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou, who made his professional boxing debut a week ago against Tyson Fury, could return to the ring before the end of the year.

The Cameroonian’s next opponent will reportedly be former WBC world title challenger Dereck Chisora, with the fight taking place on December 23 in Saudi Arabia.

“We will most likely see Francis Ngannou and Dereck Chisora fight on December 23,” reports Boxing Kingdom. “More information will be provided this week. At the moment, it all depends on whether Ngannou will be ready for that date.”

The British boxer indirectly confirmed this information by stating his willingness to share the ring with “The Predator”.

“Love this game – I want this fight!”, Chisora wrote on social media.

Last December, Dereck Chisora made an unsuccessful attempt to take away the WBC championship belt from Tyson Fury, losing to “The Gypsy King” by technical knockout in the tenth round. The 39-year-old Briton last fought in August of this year, winning by unanimous decision over American Gerald Washington after ten rounds.

On October 28, Francis Ngannou nearly pulled off the greatest upsets in professional boxing history, losing a controversial split decision to Tyson Fury in a competitive bout, knocking out the reigning world heavyweight boxing champion in the third round. The 37-year-old Cameroonian last fought in mixed martial arts last January, successfully unifying the current and interim UFC heavyweight titles against Frenchman Cyril Gagne, who he defeated by unanimous decision.
