UFC 294 kicks off on October 21 at 17:00 Moscow time in Abu Dhabi with a superfight between reigning UFC lightweight champion Islam Makhachev and Alexander Volkanovski, who holds the UFC featherweight title.
The fight comes eight months after the Australian made his first unsuccessful attempt to win the lightweight championship belt, losing to the Russian by unanimous decision. This time around, Volkanovski steps into the octagon on short notice, having agreed to replace the injured Charles Oliveira.
The second major event of the numbered event will be a middleweight bout between Chechnya native Khamzat Chimaev and Nigerian Kamaru Usman, the winner of which will be the next opponent for reigning division champion Sean Strickland.
Like Volkanovski, Usman took the fight with Borz on eleven days notice, replacing Paulo Costa who had picked up a staph infection.
Also taking part in the number show of the world’s strongest league will be Russians Magomed Ankalaev, Ikram Aliskerov, Said Nurmagomedov, Victoria Dudakova and Sharabutdin Magomedov.
Live coverage of UFC 294 will be available for free on Match TV, Match! Combatant, Match TV’s official channels on Rutube and Odnoklassniki, as well as on the UFC Fight Pass digital platform on a subscription basis.
The main card of the event will begin at 21:00 Moscow time, and Islam Makhachev and Alex Volkanovski are tentatively scheduled to step into the octagon at 23:00 Moscow time.
