Former UFC lightweight champion Peter Yan commented on the statement of his division colleague Song Yadong, who reported that the Russian refused to fight him, citing injury.
“First they came up with this fight themselves, and then they canceled it,” Yang wrote in the social network, answering the corresponding question from a fan.
According to Song’s version, his fight with Yang was supposed to headline another Chinese UFC event, which will take place on December 9 in Shanghai. As confirmation of his words, the Chinese published correspondence with his manager, who in a text message notified him of the Russian’s refusal.
At the same time, Yan’s manager, Sayat Abdrakhmanov, stated that they were not offered this fight, and the head of the Archangel Michael club and the RCC league, Nikolai Klimenko, confirmed that the former UFC champion has no plans to return to the octagon this year.
The 30-year-old Peter Yan is currently riding a three-fight losing streak and is ranked fifth in the UFC’s lightweight rankings.
