Arman Tsarukyan and Benil Dariush have agreed to fight in December

A lightweight fight between Arman Tsarukyan and Benil Dariush could fill the card for UFC 296, which takes place Dec. 16 in Las Vegas.

This was announced by Dariush’s manager, Ali Abdelaziz, in an interview with The Schmo, and later the American fighter confirmed this information in an interview with Luke Thomas. According to Dariush, at the moment there is a verbal agreement for the fight, but the contract has not yet been signed.

Two weeks earlier, the Russian fighter said that he was given an opponent from the top five of the division, however, did not disclose his name.

Arman Tsarukyan, 26, picked up his second straight win on June 17, finishing Joaquim Silva by third-round TKO, while 34-year-old Benil Dariush snapped an eight-fight win streak a week earlier, losing by first-round TKO to Charles Oliveira in a potential contender’s bout.

Benil Dariush and Arman Tsarukian are currently ranked fourth and eighth in the UFC lightweight rankings, respectively.
