Islam Makhachev responded to Charles Oliveira’s complaints

Reigning UFC lightweight champion, Islam Makhachev, has responded to his opponent Charles Oliveira, who stated that he believes it is unfair that their second fight will again take place in Abu Dhabi.

“Charles, I asked to organize a fight for me in the summer in the U.S., but the UFC had other plans,” the Russian wrote on social media. “I’m a UFC fighter just like you, I never put conditions on the UFC, and I fought wherever I was offered. My last fight took place in Australia in my opponent’s backyard, simple as that. So everything you’re saying doesn’t make sense.”

A few days earlier, the Brazilian expressed his displeasure in an interview with My MMA News.

“I don’t think it’s fair, but that’s the way the game is,” Oliveira stated. “He’s the champion, so his word is crucial. But I will come back for my belt, wherever it is. In 12 years in the game, I’ve learned its rules.”

As a reminder, a lightweight title fight between Islam Makhachev and Chalz Oliveira will headline UFC 294 in Abu Dhabi on October 21.
