Reigning UFC lightweight champion, Islam Makhachev, did not ignore the statement of Colby Covington, who promised to make the first defense against the Russian after taking the UFC welterweight title from Leon Edwards.
“Easy money!”, Makhachev wrote on social media, quoting a link to the American’s interview.
Two days earlier, the title fight between Leon Edwards and Colby Covington was officially announced as the main event of UFC 296, which takes place on December 16 in Las Vegas. Since then, “Chaos” has been actively involved in the promotion of the scheduled fight, promising to take on not only Edwards and Makhachev, but also the current UFC middleweight champion, Sean Strickland.
As a reminder, Islam Makhachev is currently preparing for a title rematch with Charles Oliveira headlining UFC 294 in Abu Dhabi on October 21.
