McGregor faked the news of his fight with Chandler on a neural network

Conor McGregor’s publication that his fight with Michael Chandler is officially set to be the main event of UFC 296 is not true, claims the president of the world’s strongest league, Dana White.

According to the head of the organization, the screenshot published by the Irishman was not taken from the UFC Fight Pass website, but was generated by a neural network.

“I don’t know where that image came from, but it’s definitely not from UFC Fight Pass,” White said at a press conference in Las Vegas. “People on my team said it was made with a neural network. Either way, it was faked. Obviously, if it was, you would have heard it from us first. You would have gotten a message from me on social media.”

The UFC president also avoided giving a straight answer when asked if McGregor would return to the octagon before the end of the year.

“I have no idea. We’ll see how it plays out.”

McGregor and Chandler’s Dec. 16 fight was originally expected to headline UFC 296 in Las Vegas, but the Irishman announced last week that the bout would not take place because the Nevada State Athletic Commission refused to allow him to fight without a clearance from the American Anti-Doping Agency, which insists on a six-month doping testing period.
