Former UFC flyweight champion, Cody Garbrandt, has suffered an injury and has pulled out of the lineup for the UFC 292 event where he was scheduled to face Mario Bautista.
The announcement was made by the organization during the broadcast of the UFC on ESPN 51 event held in Las Vegas.
It is not yet known whether Bautista will remain on the card, or leave it following his injured opponent.
In March of this year, 32-year-old Cody Garbrandt put his career back on track with a unanimous decision win over Trevin Jones. Prior to that, the former UFC champion had suffered two straight losses, losing by unanimous decision to Rob Font, and losing by technical knockout to Kai Kara-France.
Mario Bautista, 30, is riding a four-fight win streak in the UFC, finishing Guido Cannetti with a rear-naked choke in his last fight.
As a reminder, UFC 292 will take place on August 19 in Boston, and the main event will be a flyweight title fight between Aljamain Sterling and Sean O’Malley.
