Daniel Cormier explains why Jon Jones vs Stipe Miocic fight was postponed

Former UFC two-weight champion Daniel Cormier has explained why the title fight between Jon Jones and Stipe Miocic has been pushed back from summer to fall and has yet to be officially announced.

“They want a Jones vs. Stipe fight – that’s the main goal,” Cormier said in a video posted on his YouTube channel. “Obviously, this fight will not take place now. Every time they try to organize a big fight, there is usually a financial issue. It’s about two of the greatest fighters of all time and I’m sure it all comes down to finances. Jones just got a new contract, so you can imagine how pleased he is. This makes me believe the rumors that the problem is on Miocic’s side. In this situation, I’m sorry that Stipe continues to waste time, because when he enters the octagon with Jones, presumably at Madison Square Garden, he will be 41 years old.

The fight between Jon Jones and Stipe Miocic was originally supposed to headline UFC 290 in Las Vegas on July 8, but the title fight is now scheduled for November as the main event of the UFC’s annual event in New York.
