The welterweight bout between Belal Muhammad and Gilbert Burns could be the second biggest event at UFC 288 on May 6 in Newark.
The fight is currently in development, according to informed sources close to the situation.
In October last year, Belal Muhammad won his fourth consecutive victory, finishing by TKO in the second round of the previously undefeated Sean Brady.
Gilbert Burns has already won two wins this year, defeating Neil Magny in January and a unanimous decision over Jorge Masvidal a week ago.
Belal Muhammad and Gilbert Burns are currently ranked fourth and fifth in the UFC welterweight division, respectively.
