Russian featherweight Movsar Evloev volunteered on a three-week notice to replace the injured Jonathan Pierce and face American Bryce Mitchell at UFC 288 in Newark.
At the moment, the parties are discussing the possibility of organizing a duel.
Last June, 29-year-old Movsar Evloev won his sixth victory in the UFC, winning a unanimous decision over American Dan Ige, and 28-year-old Bryce Mitchell suffered his first loss in December in December, losing to Ilia Topuria by arm triangle choke in the second round.
The fight between Evloev and Mitchell was supposed to head the UFC Fight Night 214 tournament in Las Vegas last November, however, the Russian was injured and dropped out of the event.
Recall that UFC 288 will take place on May 6, and its main event will be a bantamweight title fight between Aljamain Sterling and Henry Cejudo.
