UFC president Dana White is no longer interested in a fight between Jon Jones and Francis Ngannou, as he knows how a failed heavyweight fight would have ended.
“I am no longer interested in this fight,” the head of the organization said in an interview with TMZ Sports. “I tried to organize this fight for two years, but Francis didn’t want to fight. He left us without even making another deal. And I know what the world of boxing is like, so it’s crazy. But Francis didn’t want to do that.”
“I tried to fight this fight for two years, and I’ll tell you what. I guess that’s what a lot of people think. I think if Jones fought Ngannou, he would do the same to him as he did to Gan. Francis and Cyril had a five-round war, and if Cyril had not tried to submit, he probably would have won this fight.
At the beginning of this year, Francis Ngannou vacated the UFC heavyweight championship belt by leaving the organization as a free agent, and on March 4 at UFC 285 in Las Vegas, Jon Jones returned to the octagon after a three-year break and won the vacant title, finishing by guillotine Cyril in two minutes Ghana.
