New UFC heavyweight champion Jon Jones, who won the vacant title vacated by Francis Ngannou last weekend, doesn’t believe his fight with the Cameroonian will ever take place.
“I strongly doubt that he will return, especially when I gave out such a first performance,” the American wrote on the social network, answering questions from fans. “Like I said, the dude left for a reason. He put forward all the possible demands in the world, knowing in advance that the UFC would definitely not go for it – he found his way to jump off.
On March 4 at UFC 285 in Las Vegas, Jon Jones successfully resumed his career after a three-year hiatus and won the vacant title by guillotining Cyril Gan in two minutes.
Francis Ngannou, who left the UFC as a free agent earlier this year, plans to make his professional boxing debut against one of the best heavyweights in the world next. Derek Chisora, Anthony Joshua, Deontay Wilder and Tyson Fury have already announced their desire to share the ring with the Predator.
