Islam Makhachev named potential rivals

The current UFC lightweight champion, Islam Makhachev, shared his opinion about the upcoming fights, which may determine his next opponent.

The main candidate for a title chance is the winner of the duel between Charles Oliveira and Benil Dariush, and the Russian hopes that the American will win this confrontation.

“Hopefully Benil wins because I already beat Oliveira and I need a new challenge,” the Russian told BT Sport. “Dariush has good skills in standing, grappling, wrestling, so it will be a good fight. But if Oliveira wins, shows a good performance, maybe he will be next. I don’t know”

As for the fight between Conor McGregor and Michael Chandler, the UFC champion is ready to defend his title against the Irishman if he wins and the organization names him the next contender.

“They are both smart guys. Conor chose Chandler, and Chandler had previously lost on purpose, because if he had won a couple of fights, the fight with McGregor would never have happened. Of course, Chandler lost on purpose, he fought like a crazy street brawler and got what he wanted.

“Conor doesn’t deserve a title shot even if he beats Chandler, but if the UFC wants it, why not? Let’s make good money – go ahead! I’m waiting for a call from the UFC. When they call and put someone up against me, I’ll be ready. Dana, just give me a call and I’ll be ready!”

Recall that Charles Oliveira and Benil Dariush will meet on May 6 at UFC 288, and Conor McGregor and Michael Chandler will share the octagon after they complete filming in the next season of TUF, where they train rival teams.
