Gilbert Burns predicts Jorge Masvidal fight

Former UFC welterweight contender Gilbert Burns doesn’t believe his fight with Jorge Masvidal will go to a decision.

“I don’t think it will be easy,” the Brazilian told Submission Radio. “I expect it to be a bloodbath, a real war that will end ahead of schedule. There may be a second or third round, but I’m waiting for the finish line. It could be a submission, a knockout, or a technical knockout, but I am definitely going to finish off Jorge Masvidal at UFC 287. I don’t think a decision victory over Masvidal will do me anything, but a spectacular finish will mean a lot.”

Burns believes that his opponent will be as motivated as possible, especially if Leon Edwards successfully defends his title in a rematch with Kamaru Usman on March 18 at UFC 286 in London.

“He is very experienced, persistent, and this time he fights at home. In addition, he has three defeats in a row, and he definitely does not want a fourth. He could end his career if he loses again, so I don’t doubt for a second that he will try to give me a fight. Another important point is that if Leon Edwards defeats Kamaru Usman in a rematch, Masvidal will become even more dangerous. Because if Leon beats Kamara and Jorge beats me, the UFC will give them a fight. So if Leon defends the belt, Jorge will come out even more charged.”

Recall that the fight between Gilbert Burns and Jorge Masvidal will be the second most important event of the UFC 287 tournament, which will be held on April 8 in Miami.
