The past year has given us some unexpected results. Including two defeats of young talents – American techie Chris Colbert (16-1, 6 KOs) and Mexican puncher Jose Valenzuela (12-1, 8 KOs).

Interestingly, both lost in a similar situation – to late replacements – respectively, to the Dominicans Hector Luis Garcia (16-1, 10 KOs) and Edwin De Los Santos (15-1, 14 KOs).

There are rumors on the sidelines that now the top talents that have been knocked out are preparing to meet in a full-time fight. Allegedly, the parties almost agreed, and the fight itself will take place on the undercard of an intriguing duel between two former American super-middleweight champions David Benavidez and Caleb Plant. Apparently, they plan to fight in the light weight limit (up to 61.2 kg).

Colbert is a former WBA Mandatory Challenger at 59kg. He has victories over Austin Dulai, Jesril Corrales, Jaime Arboleda and Tugstsogt Nyambayar.

Valenzuela is known primarily for rumors that he allegedly dropped Teofimo Lopez more than once during sparring. The prospect has a victory over the same Dulay, and he also quickly and very brutally dealt with Francisco Vargas.
