The rematch of the unified second bantamweight champion (up to 55.3 kg) American Stephen Fulton (21-0, 8 KOs) and the former champion in the same category, also representing the USA Brandon Figueroa (23-1-1, 18 KOs) will become the main event of the boxing evening on February 25 in Minneapolis (USA). This is reported by the famous columnist Dan Raphael.

Recall that Fulton and Figueroa fought in November 2021, when Stephen put the WBO belt on the line, and Brandon did the same with the WBC belt. The result of a stubborn 12-round confrontation was Fulton’s victory on points by a majority vote of the judges.

This time, the boxers will meet one category higher, within the featherweight division (up to 57.2 kg), where they will challenge the vacant title of the “interim” WBC world champion.

The title of full-fledged WBC champion there currently belongs to the Mexican Ray Vargas (36-0, 22 KOs), who on February 11 will challenge the vacant WBC super featherweight title (up to 59 kg) in a fight against American O’Shaky Foster. If Vargas wins, he will need to notify the organization in which division he intends to continue performing within 10 days. If Ray stays at 59 then Fulton and Figueroa will fight for the vacant full-weight title.

We add that after the first meeting in the ring, both boxers had one fight each. Fulton defeated Daniel Roman on points last June, and Figueroa knocked out Carlos Castro in the 6th round in July.

Earlier it became known that at the same time and in the same place, that is, on February 25 in Minnesota, Subriel Matias and Jeremias Ponce will challenge the vacant IBF light welterweight title (up to 63.5 kg).
