Center Gervais Auto, Shawinigan, Canada. In the main event of the show, Russian heavyweight (over 90.7 kg) Arslanbek Makhmudov (16-0, 15 KOs) playing for Canada did not notice the resistance of falling German veteran Michael Wallisch (23-6, 16 KOs).
Makhmudov, without reconnaissance, rushed to the attack, kneaded the opponent with sweeping laterals, but at the same time often punched through the back of the head. Wallisch took a knee four times in the opening round, complained about illegal strikes, and was looking for an excuse to quickly withdraw from the fight.
The referee fined the Russian, but recorded three knockdowns in his favor. Wallisch did not go to the second round, complaining about an injured shoulder.
Patients roar in displeasure. They can be understood. Coach Mark Ramsey is dissatisfied with Makhmudov – he explains that this can lead to disqualification.
Mahmudov TKO 1.
Multiple world amateur champion local legend
Mary Spencer (7-1, 5 KOs) suffered a debut defeat in pro-firing in the confrontation with the ex-world champion
Femke Hermans (14-4, 5 KOs) from Belgium. At stake was a vacant belt in the (not the most prestigious) IBO version in the light middleweight division (up to 69.9 kg).
It seems that the hype played against Spencer. She believed in her exceptional firepower and tried to knock out her opponent – she acted recklessly and predictably. Hermans moved well, changed stances, jabbed well, broke her opponent’s nose, and her overhands shocked the favorite in the 2nd round.
Spencer was never able to rebuild during the battle. If it was possible to impose power boxing, then she did not have any advantage in it either. In the final rounds, she looked tired, and her opponent smiled contentedly. Don’t rush, they might get robbed.
Although… No. Hardly. After all, even Spencer understands that she lost on all counts.
The judges scored 99-91, 97-93 and 96-94 in favor of the underdog. Everything is fair!
Hermans UD 10.
As part of the show, local middleweight (up to 72.6 kg) ex-challenger Stephen Butler (32-3-1, 26 KOs) snatched a heavy victory from American Joshua Conley (17-5-1, 11 KOs).
Butler started the fight aggressively, but Conley easily read his sweeping attacks – he countered well, at times worked ahead of the curve. The fight turned out to be very competitive, but in order to win on the road, the underdog had to box more actively – no one canceled home refereeing.
The score of the judges: 99-91 (tin), 97-93 and 96-94 in favor of the local fighter.
