Only I can beat Stevenson – ex-rival Lomachenko

The former world champion in featherweight and second featherweight American Shakur Stevenson (19-0, 9 KOs) has everything he needs to not only win the title in the lightweight division (up to 61.2 kg), the transition to which he announced before his previous fight (in September against Robson Conceição), but also to seize sole power in it for a long time, even despite the scattering of stellar magnitudes as of today.

His compatriot from the same category, Jemaine Ortiz (16-1-1, 8 KOs), is sure of this, who also believes that only he can cope with Stevenson.

“I think he’s a great fighter,” says Jemaine, “but I think that if anyone beats Shakur, it will be me. If I don’t succeed, then I think he will dominate for a very long time.”

Recall that Ortiz had a great opportunity to express himself at the end of October, when he, in the status of an obvious outsider, entered the ring against the Ukrainian ex-champion Vasily Lomachenko. And Jemaine succeeded in his own way – he lost, but in a competitive confrontation.

Meanwhile, Shakur had serious problems finding an opponent.
