The current Bellator light heavyweight champion, Vadim Nemkov, commented on the statement of Magomed Ankalaev, who announced that he was waiting for his compatriot in the UFC and was ready to fight him.
“It’s not a problem to meet with Ankalaev, because this is a sport,” the Russian said, answering journalists’ questions. “If I ever get into the UFC, and there will be a question of fighting for the title with the Russian Ankalaev, then what to do – we will fight, there is nothing wrong with that. On the contrary, it is good for Russian mixed martial arts, because two representatives of Russia in the best league will fight for the title. But I’m in a different league and this fight isn’t possible right now, so I try not to think about it. Purely hypothetically, if they give a fight, I won’t refuse.”
In less than a day, Ankalaev will fight for the vacant UFC light heavyweight championship against Jan Blachowicz, but Nemkov will not be able to watch the fight live.
“Probably, I won’t watch the fight live, because at that moment we will be flying from Kemerovo. It probably won’t work, but I’ll definitely check it out again. We have an arrival in Moscow at nine o’clock in the morning, and he will fight just at that time.
Recall that the title fight between Magomed Ankalaev and Jan Blakhovych will be the main event of the UFC 282 tournament, which will be held in Las Vegas.
