Hall of Fame referee Mills Lane ended his earthly career at the age of 85. The legendary third in the ring passed away in Reno, Nevada on the morning of December 6th. He spent the last few days in a hospice, writes

Mills began boxing at the age of 20 while serving in the US Marine Corps. saved up record 10-1 in profibox.
Then he decided that it was more interesting for him to judge, and he stayed in this business until 1998: was the referee in 261 battles.
The author of the winged boxing phrase “Let’s get started!” (Let’s Get It On!) has refereed many major boxing matches, including the famous fight between Evander Holyfield and Mike Tyson in the summer of 1997, when the latter bit off a piece of the opponent’s ear.
He has worked as a prosecutor, district attorney and a “real” judge. He hosted his own court show Judge Mills Lane and other television programs.
Inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame in 2013.
In 2002, Lane suffered a severe stroke, which left him partially paralyzed and unable to speak.
“His general condition has deteriorated significantly. It was a quick exit. He was comfortable and he was with his family,” Lane Jr. said of his father’s death.
