UFC commentator and host of one of the most popular podcasts in the world, Joe Rogan, believes that the difference in size will be a key factor in the superfight between Islam Makhachev and Alexander Volkanovski.
“Do you think Volkanovski is big enough to compete with a guy like Islam who is a really big lightweight?” Rogan said in a recent episode of his podcast. “Islam is the big guy”
“I don’t know how much he rides, but he has the perfect physique for this weight class. He looks very skinny when he makes weight and obviously gets significantly bigger when he goes into a fight. He doesn’t look like a lightweight anymore.”
“If you look at Volkanovski, he has very good takedown defense and he can translate himself. He translated Max Holloway a few times, but Volkanovski is not the biggest guy even at featherweight.”
Recall that the superfight of champions, in which the Russian fighter will defend the UFC title in the lightweight category, will take place in the homeland of the Australian and will head the UFC 284 tournament in Perth on February 12.
