Muslim Salikhov’s creative offense is well-known. This was evident during his win against Andre Fialho in UFC Vegas 65..
Nothing came easy after Fialho came storming out of the gates but “King of Kung Fu” was ready to match him strike for strike with the momentum shifting dramatically in the second round. Salikhov landed a series of spin kicks on Fialho’s head and body, while Fialho was whipped with hard punches in all combinations.
The end was reached when Salikhov hit Fialho with a spinning back kick to his head, leaving the Portuguese fighter just trying to get away from the cage. Salikhov continued launching strikes until the referee stepped in to save Fialho from further harm with the official stoppage coming at 1:03 in the third round.
“I feel good,” Salikhov said about the win. He hit me in the left eye with a punch and in round one, he got me. I now see two Andre Fialhos instead of just one. After that, in the second round I saw he got tired and I was ready to fight five rounds. The second round is not stressful for me. I am just trying to get the win.
” I can do better. American Top Team is my new team. I have the best coach in ‘King’ Mo [Lawal]. I am ready to fight .”
For a brief moment, it appeared that Fialho would win the fight by knockout. He caught Salikhov with an excellent punch and immediately placed a mouse under his left eye. Fialho tried to capitalize on Salikhov’s eye but couldn’t get it done.
At the beginning of round two, Salikhov went straight on the attack. He uncorked a variety of strikes that left Fialho baffled. Fialho was actually knocked down by a spinning back kick, but managed to get up again.
That was when Salikhov started the fight-finishing sequence by spinning backkicking the head again. He didn’t stop shooting shots until it was over.
Salikhov remains an all-action fighter any time he sets foot in the octagon and it appears he’s getting even more confident now that he has a new team behind him.
