In March, former WBC super middleweight champions Americans David Benavidez (26-0, 23 KOs) and Caleb Plant (22-1, 13 KOs) will meet in a full-time fight.
And here is what ex-US champion Anthony Dirrell, who knows both of them firsthand, thinks about this super fight. In 2019, he lost the WBC belt to Benavidez, and in October of this year he failed to upset Plant, after which he decided to retire.
Despite the fact that Dirrell lost to both of them ahead of schedule, he has little doubt about the winner: “They are both very good. But, as for me, David still has more trump cards. Although we must still admit that it is sometimes very difficult for him with pure boxers. That is, with those who move well, who are not easy to hit. Why do I bet on it? I think it is his manual speed and advantage in striking power that decides. I bet that these factors will help him beat Caleb. I’m sure it’s going to be a hell of a fight.”
Dirrell suggests the fight will go the distance: “I don’t think he can stop Caleb. But it seems to me that the fight will turn out to be one-sided. Speed and quick hands make Benavidez an extremely uncomfortable opponent.”
But one of the greatest legends in the history of boxing believes that if Canelo knocked out Plant, then Benavidez will simply destroy him.
