We continue to inform you about the decisions taken at the annual Congress of the World Boxing Council (WBC), taking place these days in Mexico.

We deal with the second average (up to 76.2 kg) and average weight (up to 72.6 kg).

Second Middleweight: interim titleholder Mexican-American David Benavidez (26-0, 23 KOs) is expected to face compatriot Caleb Plant (22-1, 13 KOs) to determine the mandatory challenger for current undisputed division champion Canelo Alvarez. It is already known that the fight (Benavides-Plant) is planned for March, but so far without specifics on the date and venue.

Jermall Charlo

Average weight: the current holder of a full-fledged title, American Jermall Charlo (32-0, 22 KOs) has not competed since June 2021 due to an injury, but despite this, he has not yet been ordered to fight with the “interim” champion from the Dominican Republic Carlos Adames (22-1, 17 KO), despite the fact that a corresponding request was received from the latter’s team. The organization emphasizes that the belt of the “interim” champion does not give its owner the status of an official contender, and, apparently, they want to arrange an eliminator for Adames against the native of Ukraine Fedor Cherkashin (21-0, 13 KOs).
