The team of American ex-world heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder (43-2-1, 42 KOs) is ready to start negotiations on a duel against Briton Anthony Joshua (24-3, 22 KOs).
According to Deontay’s manager, Shelly Finkel, Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn approached them with a generous offer, but that was before Wilder quickly and spectacularly knocked out Robert Helenius on October 15.
Now they are waiting for Hearn to return with his proposal, although they are not sure about it.
“A few months ago, Eddie Hearn sent us an email, to which we replied that the most important thing for Deontay now is to train and do what he did (with Helenius), – said Finkel. “Now that the job is done, let’s see if Eddie shows up with the promised big bucks and a deal to fight Joshua. We are ready. He knows how to get in touch with us, so let’s see if knocking out Helenius has changed his mind.”
Meanwhile, Joshua’s most likely next opponent has already been named – and it’s not Wilder.
