Former WBA World champion Syrian heavyweight Mahmoud Charr (33-4, 19 KOs) hopes to fight for the WBC title with Briton Tyson Fury (32-0-1, 23 KOs) and is worried that the ex-owner of all other belts can disrupt everything heavyweight Anthony Joshua (24-3, 22 KOs) from the UK – negotiations are underway for a December fight in Cardiff (Wales).

Charr tried to explain why he deserves to fight for Fury’s title: “Everyone knows that he promised me this fight a long time ago. And he promised more than once. If he is a real Spartan, then he should fight the real Superman. And this is me! I have five wins in a row. Everyone knows that I was on the verge of life and death, I had a bullet wound, but God gave me another chance. And seven months later, I became the first Arab heavyweight champion in history.”
In November 2017, Charr really won the WBA World title – a victory over the Russian-Belarusian big man Alexander Ustinov was enough for this. Interestingly, Charr did not defend himself – he disappeared from boxing for 3.5 years, was marked by a doping scandal, which they managed to hush up.
According to him, “Fury and I have a similar story. Our motto is not to give up and fight for the legacy. I want to fight Fury! Spartan, don’t be afraid! Accept my challenge!”
Tyson Fury’s brother named the most likely next opponent last week. The next day, Joshua was suspected that Fury was not preparing for Anthony at all.
