The unified heavyweight champion Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk (20-0, 13 KOs) will not race for the WBC belt holder Briton Tyson Fury (32-0-1, 23 KOs). So
claims boxer’s manager from Ukraine Egis Klimas.

According to him, Usyk’s fight with former WBC champion American puncher Deontay Wilder (42-2-1, 41 KOs) is now much more likely: “We are not going to chase Fury. Usyk will return to the ring in early 2023 against the winner of the bout between Wilder and Robert Helenius. Usyk would like to fight Wilder, but he will fight whoever wins this fight.”

Klimas claims that Usyk will arrive in October on a working visit to the United States: first he will attend the Wilder vs Helenius fight in Brooklyn (New York), then he will open a charitable foundation in Los Angeles Oleksandr Usyk Foundation.

It was assumed that the fight between Usyk and Fury would take place before the end of the year, but the Ukrainian is injured. For this reason, Tyson decided to fight Anthony Joshua. Klimas is unhappy, because “in the event of a defeat, Fury will disrupt the fight for the title of absolute world champion, which should take place in 2023.”

“We have three titles, not Fury,” Klimas recalls. We won’t chase after him. This whole situation is his fault, not ours. It wasn’t Usyk who created it. Alexander is ready to fight Fury. And in his own territory. He’s ready to fight anyone on the road.”

During the same interview, Klimas called the difference between Usyk and Fury. Interestingly, Joshua is already preparing for a fight with a compatriot: there is a photo of sparring. The promoter of the champion said that everything is 90% ready.
