Why did Joshua throw the belts out of the ring? Hearn got it all figured out

Unable to cope with emotions after the defeat in the rematch from Alexander Usik, Briton Anthony Joshua (24-3, 22 KOs) at first behaved largely inadequately. He grabbed the championship belts belonging to the opponent and defiantly threw them out of the ring, wanted to settle scores with someone right on the spot, went to the sub-tribune room, but returned and gave an emotional speech.

Joshua subsequently apologized for his behavior.

And here’s what Joshua’s promoter, Eddie Hearn, thinks about the antics of the ward with belts.

“He owned these belts for a long time, and these sanctioning organizations taxed him with large monetary contributions and forced mandatory protections,” says Hearn. “I think he just lost faith in the system and is no longer interested in fighting for belts. I guess now he just wants to fight for fun and to test himself.”

“Of course, he wanted to become the absolute champion, but in many ways his behavior was the result of disappointment,” the promoter is sure. “He left the ring because he knew he would do stupid things otherwise. But then he decided that he just couldn’t leave like that, and he returned to give a speech, being a little out of his mind. In any case, it was just emotions that came from the heart.”

Earlier, Hearn told who, in his opinion, won the Usyk-Joshua 2 battle.
