The WBA world champion in the flyweight (up to 50.8 kg) Ukrainian Artyom Dalakyan (21-0, 15 KOs) received a new mandatory challenger.

The championship committee of the organization appointed Dalakyan’s fight against Costa Rican David Jimenez (12-0, 9 KOs), in connection with which a negotiation deadline was prescribed for the sides of the boxers until August 31. If it is not possible to agree amicably, the organizer of the fight will be determined at the promotional auction.

Dalakyan, 34, has held the title since February 2018 and has five successful defenses to date. He spent the last of them on November 20 last year in Kyiv, stopping the ex-world champion from Panama, Luis Concepción, in the 9th round.

Jimenez, 30, won the vacant WBC Latino and WBA Gold titles in 2021, and just a couple of weeks ago he won a resounding victory over American favorite Ricardo Sandoval, outboxing him by a 12-round majority vote. For David, this was his debut performance in the USA.
