Promoter Leonard Ellerby (Mayweather Promotions) smashed a colleague from Golden Boy Promotions Oscar De La Hoya. As you may have guessed, it’s all about the negotiations over the organization of the fight between the popular American punchers Gervonta Davis (26-0, 24 KOs) and Ryan Garcia (23-0, 19 KOs).
It all started after a statement by Davis promoter Floyd Mayweather, in which he made it clear under what conditions this fight could take place. Collaborating with Garcia, De La Hoya was at first categorically opposed, but then decided to play a little: he says that the market value of Davis and Garcia is on the same level.
Apparently, this is what De La Hoya and
pissed off Ellerbee: “Oscar is a lying piece of shit! And to bring it up, we are ready to bet 5 million USD against his 1 million USD. We are ready for fair arbitration, which will put an end to our dispute. And the winner will have the right to dictate the financial terms of the fight. Then the fans will see who is constantly lying.”
De La Hoya is trying to make it appear that Garcia has already caught up with Davis in terms of market value, but this is not at all true – Gervonta “made” Ryan even “on his field.” He is also the only PPV fighter in the division.
“Tank Davis regularly sells at least 100,000 pay-per-view streams,” Ellerby recalls. – Oscar’s attempts are similar only to the desire to disrupt the negotiations, to make sure that this fight does not take place. And it’s very sad, considering that Ryan really wants to fight Gervonta. De La Hoya’s talk about the market value of these fighters being at the same level is bullshit. And everyone who fumbles at least a little in boxing knows about it. Ryan collected a little more than 1 million USD on tickets in his last fight on his territory. In the same building, Gervonta raised more than 3.5 million USD. The difference is more than three times. What kind of equality is he talking about? Ryan has collected less than that amount in his last three fights combined.”
Ellerbee believes that the fight will take place, but for this “Ryan needs to quickly get his promoter to his senses.” Interestingly, Garcia previously defiantly responded to Floyd Mayweather about the fight with “Tank” Davis.
Undecided who is the favorite in this pair? Perhaps the experts can help you.
