Molly McCann is a well-known name after she won another major win for her country.

“Meatball” put Hannah Goldy away in a little under four minutes to light up O2 Arena at UFC London on Saturday and was later asked at the evening’s post-fight press conference why she’s angled for a fight with Antonina Shevchenko next. Antonina McCann is interested in Shevchenko because she’s the sister to flyweight champion Valentina Shevchenko.

” I never call out anyone, it’s not my job to do that,” McCann stated. “But when you talk about legacy, prestige, honor, who’s the best in the game? It’s Valentina. Am I Valentina-ready yet? No, come on. Am I Antonina-ready? Let’s see. I believe I am.

“This isn’t like a diss, but I genuinely think this is an amazing fight to have and I know if they do one fight camp for me, if I ever make it to Shevchenko they’ll have the blueprint. But I’ll also have the blueprint because I’ll know how to beat her sister. With the greatest respect I have said her name, because she is the best .”

.

McCann is likely correct in her assessment that she won’t be crossing paths with “Bullet” anytime soon, but the English fighter has emerged as a star in her own right. McCann scored one of her best knockouts in the UFC’s March London event and delighted the crowd with another thrilling finish Saturday.

McCann is not content with her win over Goldy. She feels that she continues to show an improving all-around game and it’s in no small part to the support of close friend and fellow UFC London standout Paddy Pimblett — and a perfectly timed comment from a fan.

“I gave your fight intelligence,” McCann stated. “I gave you patience. “I gave you patience in situations where I could have been put down, submissive, or controlled. Then, I found myself against the cage, and a bird said, “Hey, girl, you smell good.” That was the moment that the fight was over.

” I’ll be brutally honest and say that I sometimes wonder if I’m who I really am. Do I want to leave the legacy that I believe I have?

McCann has now won three straight fights and her UFC record stands at 6-3. McCann is more confident than ever and deserves to be ranked among the top flyweight fighters, regardless of whether she competes for the title or not.

” McCann stated that he had more faith in himself than McCann. I believed more in myself. It’s my turn to get where I need to go. I believe I’ve learned all the lessons that I’m supposed to have learned.”
