The absolute world champion in lightweight (up to 61.2 kg) Irish Katie Taylor (21-0, 6 KOs) could fight against the MMA star – and it would be fun, says British promoter Eddie Hearn.
Recall that on April 30 in New York (USA), Taylor with difficulty, but still defended her title, defeating Amanda Serrano, the champion in seven categories in their Puerto Rico, on points. It is possible that in the future there will be a revenge.
But Eddie has other ideas too: he has his eye on former UFC champion Holly Holm, who was inducted into the Boxing Hall of Fame this year, and Bellator champion Cris Cyborg.
“There are two fights that I find really interesting (for Taylor) against Holly Holm and Cris Cyborg,” says Hearn. Holm is a very good boxer. Cyborg can also box and has great power. Those are two big fights. If I’m not mistaken, Holly has one fight left on her contract with the UFC, so this will be difficult to do. Cyborg has an agreement with Bellator, but it does not cover boxing. There are no negotiations yet, but I would definitely be interested in such fights for a variety of reasons.”
“Something new and fun,” explains the functionary. At this point in Katie’s career, you start looking at other fights and wondering what to do next? Fight Holm or Cyborg in Vegas or perform in Dublin?”
By the way, in early May it became known that Taylor and Serrano broke the record.
