Mexican super middleweight champion Saul Canelo Alvarez (57-2-2, 39 KOs) lost first place in P4P rating after unsuccessfully trying to take the WBA Super belt a division higher from Russian Dmitry Bivol (20-0, 11 KOs) – in May in Las Vegas (USA) he lost by decision of the judges.
Ahead of Canelo is a return to his native division – in September in Vegas he will have a third fight with his antagonist from Kazakhstan Gennady Golovkin (42-1-1, 37 KOs). Previous fights between future members International Boxing Hall of Fame ended in a draw and a minimal victory for Alvarez.

During the promo tour
the Mexican reasoned on wins and losses: “Fighters like me take certain risks. If you want to take this place in boxing, you will constantly have to take risks. Including non-native weight fights. Even though I didn’t have to go for it. But the matter is different. It’s about writing your story, creating your legacy. If you are fighting for a place in history, then you will definitely have holes and bumps in your path. But this does not mean that you will not achieve your goal. And I’m on that path right now.”
“I’m just a challenge freak,” Canelo says. But that won’t stop me from reaching my goals. Bivolu’s defeat was very hard and painful. How else? Nobody likes to lose. But such is life. Victories alternate with defeats. But in order to achieve greatness, you need not sprinkle ashes on your head, but rise to your feet and continue on your way. Continue and at the same time become even stronger than before. This is what my path looks like.”
Last week, Canelo Alvarez revealed at what weight he would rematch Bivol, and also made it clear that he didn’t like the Kazakhstani very much: “Golovkin is a mu*ilo who pretends to be a good guy.” The veteran replied to this: “What is he, a red mouse or a rooster?” Golovkin claims: “I knew there would be no rematch between Canelo and Bivol.”
