Tech Port Arena, San Antonio, USA. American Jessica McCaskill (12-2, 5 KOs) defended the title of absolute welterweight champion (up to 66.7 kg) in a confrontation with a Mexican
Alma Ybarra (10-2, 5 KOs).

McCaskill started the fight aggressively. I missed from the contender, but in response I got a tight right hook. Ibarra was led, she was lucky that the American missed slightly on the rebound.

In the 2nd round, the champion took aim with heavy right overhands. The Mexican was increasingly hiding in clinches. The fight turned into a one-sided beating. In the corner, the contenders decided not to pull, quickly capitulated.

McCaskill TKO 4.

It was an entertaining showdown between unbeaten American prospects and two regional titles on the line. In the featherweight limit (up to 57.2 kg), Raymond Ford (12-0-1, 6 KOs) unexpectedly confidently dealt with a local fighter
Richard Medina (13-1, 7 KOs).

Ford gave his best performance at this stage of his career. From the starting gong he set a convenient distance, dictated the pace of the battle, not allowing Medina to come closer.

Richard had several local successes, but he was sorely lacking a sane jab, and he was also inferior in speed. Ford not only reworked his opponent – he was also much more accurate.

Judges score: 100-90, 100-90 and 99-91.

Ford UD 10.

17-year-old amateur boxing legend (14-time American champion in different age categories) American
Jesus “Panterita” Martinez (2-0, 0 KOs) had his second fight as a pro and almost screwed up. In the bantamweight limit (up to 53.5 kg), he snatched victory from his compatriot journiman
Kevin Monroy (1-3, 1 KO).

Martinez was knocked down in the 3rd round, but confidently took the decisive three-minute. Judges score: 38-37, 39-36 and 38-38.

Martinez MD 4.

It was the prospect’s second fight in 15 days.

In the limit of the first middle weight (up to 69.9 kg), local prospect Nikita Ababii (12-0, 6 KOs) who is still not going to progress, defeated his compatriot
Noe Larios Jr. (14-2, 6 KOs).

The fight went the whole distance, turned out to be very good and competitive. The judges unanimously gave victories to the favorite: three times 78-74.

Ababius UD 8.
