Skydome, Coventry, UK. In the main fight of the evening, the vacant belt of the low-prestigious IBO middleweight champion (up to 72.6 kg) was played out: the local ultra spectacular slugger Sam Eggington (32-7, 18 KOs) inflicted a debut defeat on Pole Przemysław Zysk (18-1, 6KO).
The Briton immediately adapted to the primitive opponent and dominated almost to the final gong. Eggington really wanted to win ahead of schedule, but Zysk refused to capitulate, although he missed a huge number of blows.
Judges score: 119-109, 119-109 and 117-111.
Already in the first round, the favorite realized that despite the formidable record, the underdog had practically nothing to oppose him. In the 3rd round, the guest’s nose was bleeding. Eggington imposed his favorite fight, confidently defeated the opponent, alternated blows to the head and to the body. It seemed that the battle was about to end, but Zysk bravely endured.
In the 4th three-minute period, the Pole went for broke. The local fighter realized that he could afford the unprecedented – he began to box because of the jab, outplayed the opponent from a distance. The search wound up and delivered several blows to the target in the 5th round, after which Eggington put the guest in place with a couple of blows to the body – he was forced to back away.
Rounds 6 and 7 turned out to be absolutely one-sided in favor of the Briton, after which he again took a break. It seems that long before the championship rounds, Eggington realized that it would not be possible to win ahead of schedule. The search until the final gong tried to put pressure on the favorite and even forced him to hit once much below the belt.
Cool fight, but Eggington doesn’t have it any other way.
