Alexander Emelianenko: “I went to fight with Santos without a desire to fight”

Russian MMA fighter Alexander Emelianenko in an interview with his manager Azamat Bostanov (Bostanof MMA YouTube channel) spoke about why he lost to Brazilian Marcio Santos. The fight took place on November 27 at the AMC Fight Nights tournament in Syktyvkar. 40-year-old Emelianenko was defeated in the first round – by choke.

“I didn’t stop [в тренировках]I’m getting ready further,” said Emelianenko. – Slightly wrong approached the fight. A little overloaded. Chased victory … Well, he approached it wrong [к бою]. Now I feel great, my body has fully recovered, I gained strength. I went into battle without the desire to fight – through force. Why? The body was overloaded. They pulled me apart very strongly before the fight – both the press, and various events, go there, here, then do it. I didn’t have time to recover, sleep, gain strength. And I slowed down very late. The body physically did not have time to recover, I could not approach [к бою] in peak form. And now the body is at its peak, I feel great both physically and technically. And before that, he was a little overwhelmed.
