Former champion Anthony Joshua (24-2, 22 KOs) will have to change his fighting style from “kitten” to “lion” if he wants to defeat IBF, WBO and WBA heavyweight belt holder Oleksandr Usyk (19-0, 13 KOs) in their revenge in Jeddah (Saudi Arabia). Ring announcer David Diamante thinks so.
In the first, in the early fall of 2021, Joshua was declassed and almost beaten down at the end of the fight.
According to Diamante, Brit’s new coach Robert Garcia could be just the right person to set up Joshua in this way.
“Robert Garcia is a top coach, he is also a former world champion. But not every trainer suits every boxer, and vice versa. If AJ and Robert have synergy, great,” said David
iFL TV. “This is a huge fight for Joshua and he really wants to win. But it will be very hard. I think Alexander’s self-confidence is going through the roof. In addition, he is now fighting for more than titles and he also wants to be an absolute.”
Joshua knocks out Usyk in six rounds – Hearn
Diamante “tends to think” Anthony can win a rematch.
“I’m not saying he will win. Maybe. To him [Джошуа] you need to know for sure in battle that he is a lion, not a kitten. When you have some kind of advantage, but you do not use it, then this is not an advantage. AJ is a big man, stronger, taller. Use these benefits! Usyk is an excellent boxer. Trying to outbox someone like that is a bad idea. But an attempt to break the Mustache can be a way out. Perhaps Garcia is just right for this task, ”the ring announcer suggested.
Wilder’s trainer, meanwhile, believes Usyk will stop Joshua in a rematch.
