In Kazakhstan, the police detained and beat a local MMA fighter Kuata Khamitova.

Khamitov supported protesters in Kazakhstan and participated in rallies. He wrote on social media:

“I am always with the people! I will tell the residents of Zhanaozen and Aktau that we are always with you. I think it’s wrong what they do with gas prices. Because it strikes at the pocket of the people, their situation is not very good anyway.”

The fighter openly expressed his position on what is happening in Kazakhstan. He was detained by special forces at home in the presence of relatives. Protesters in Kazakhstan opposed the increase in gas prices.

Mother of MMA fighter Kuat Khamitov Naiman recounted the details of her son’s detention:

“10 riot policemen and 2 civilians came in. My son was sitting on the couch, they tied his hands, put him on the floor and started beating him. The husband jumped out of another room and asked: “Why are you beating him?” You can take him away. They said that he was the instigator, without understanding anything, they took my son away.

I still had my youngest son and my brother’s wife in the house. She left the toilet, she was turned into a corner of the toilet with machine guns and forbade her to look anywhere. So they took my son away. We didn’t understand anything, no explanation. They said he was the instigator. Although all these days he was at home.

33-year-old Khamitov competed in the lightweight category (24 wins, 2 draws, 6 losses).
