The bantamweight bout between Askar Askarov and Brandon Royval left the card of the UFC Fight Night 212 tournament, which will take place on October 15 in Las Vegas.
The American fighter announced the cancellation of the fight on social networks.
“Woke up weighing 127 pounds – before starting the final cut, I found out that my opponent was not going to make weight,” wrote Royval. “They pulled out of a catchweight fight, so it looks like the fight has been cancelled. Heartbroken, but I remain a professional until the very end.
Representatives of the UFC have not yet made official statements on this matter.
Note that the Russian fighter is eliminated from the scheduled fight for the second time in a row. In June, Askarov, for an unknown reason, refused to participate in the UFC on ABC 3 tournament, in which he was supposed to meet with American Alex Perez.
