UFC 260 tournament bout

The fight will take place on Sunday, March 28. Approximate start of the battle at 06:00 Kyiv time. The fight will be broadcast live on Setanta Sports.

The UFC has something special in store for its fans this Sunday. In Las Vegas, Nevada, the promotion will host the UFC 260 PPV tournament at its home UFC Apex, which will feature a massive heavyweight title rematch between Stipe Miocic and Francis Ngannou.

The third big bout of the evening will feature a comeback from bantamweight prospect Sean O’Malley, who has made a lot of noise, and Thomas Almeida will be on his way.

O’Malley, 26, started his career in the UFC with four wins. After knocking out Eddie Wineland in June last year to set his record at 12-0, he’s been talked about as a future UFC champion. However, two months after that triumph at UFC 252, O’Malley screwed up when he was knocked out in the first round by Marlon Vera. To his defense, we can say that Sean suffered a shin injury in that fight, which is why he has not fought since.

Almeida had a similar start to his UFC career. He won his first four fights in the Octagon, three of them by knockout, and went 21-0 against Cody Garbrandt five years ago. The fight turned into a fiasco – Thomas lost by knockout in the first round. Then Almeida closed the defeat by knocking out Albert Morales, after which he embarked on a defeatist path. From 2017 to 2020, he had only three fights, losing each of them: Rob Front by knockout and Jimmy Rivera and Jonathan Martins on points. The Brazilian fought the latter in September, climbing to featherweight.

Prediction for the fight

Both fighters have good grappling skills but rely on their stance. Both have enough dynamite to knock out opponents, especially Almeida.

But technology, physical data and anthropometry are on O’Malley’s side. Sean, due to his long limbs, can process an opponent from a distance and eventually finish him.

O’Malley wins by knockout in the 1st round
