Sean O'Mally regrets beating Petr Yan

UFC bantamweight number one, Sean O’Malley, partly regrets being declared the winner against Petr Yan at UFC 280 in Abu Dhabi.

“If I were declared the loser, people would treat me with more respect,” the American said in a video posted on his YouTube channel. “They would say, ‘Damn, you lost, but you were very good!’ Now I hear, ‘What? He won!? Yes, you must be joking!’ Now I’m mostly angry at the people who expected me to get my ass kicked.”

O’Malley admits that the fight was very close, so he does not agree with those who believe that the Russian was robbed in this fight.

“Robbery? How can this be a robbery? I won the third round, he won the second, and the first was pretty damn close and I did more damage. It’s not a robbery, it’s a close fight. It was a very close fight.”

Recall that the fight between Petr Yan and Sean O’Malley, which became the third most important event of the number event, went the whole distance and ended with a split decision in favor of the American fighter with a score of 28-29 and 29-28 twice. As a result of the tournament, both fighters received bonuses as participants in the “Fight of the Night”.
