The head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, addressed with words of support the former UFC bantamweight champion, Petr Yan, who suffered a controversial defeat at UFC 280 in Abu Dhabi in a confrontation with American Sean O’Malley.
“The next evening of UFC 280 fights in Abu Dhabi has ended,” the leader of the Chechen Republic wrote on social networks. “Congratulations to the Russian fighters who won the fights. But, as usual, our Petr Yan has no luck with the judges, although our fighter showed a beautiful and tactful fight. For some reason, the judges decided that his opponent, Sean O’Malley, was more confident. But many, including the spectators of the tournament, do not agree with this. Peter, you are still the best in your weight!”
Recall that the fight in the bantamweight division, which UFC President Dana White called a challenger, went the whole distance and ended with the defeat of the Russian fighter by a split decision with a score of 29-28 and 28-29 twice.
