Former two-weight UFC champion Conor McGregor is predicting a financial failure for a superfight between Islam Makhachev and Alexander Volkanovski.
“Two of my old belts. On two small ticks. This fight will sell ten paid broadcasts, ”the Irishman wrote on a social network, posting a photo of the Russian and Australian with championship belts.
Also, McGregor, who completed filming in the remake of the film “Roadhouse”, made it clear that he was ready to return to fighting.
“I feel insanely confident,” he added. “I am calm, detached from emotions, and clearly aware of what I have to do and how to achieve it. I visualize and see it all. Filming is over, I’m back. By the time this film comes out, I will have had several fights.”
Last weekend at UFC 280 in Abu Dhabi, Islam Makhachev finished Charles Oliveira with a second-round choke to become the new UFC lightweight champion, winning the vacant title.
The Russian will defend his belt for the first time against Alexander Volkanovski, who holds the UFC featherweight title. Presumably, the superfight of champions will take place in Australia and headline the UFC 284 tournament in Perth on February 11.
As for Conor McGregor, before planning a return to the octagon, the Irishman needs to return to the USADA testing pool and pass drug tests within six months. The fact that McGregor has not been tested for doping since breaking his leg in a fight against Dustin Poirier was announced at a press conference in Abu Dhabi by UFC President Dana White.
